Before we dive headfirst into planning for the new year, let's take a moment to reflect on the past year. What were your triumphs? What were your challenges? And most importantly, what lessons did they teach you? Consider using a blank notes page or Journaling Planner Inserts to explore these questions. Remember - we're not striving for perfection, but understanding and growth.
Now, it's time to look ahead! What do you hope to achieve in the coming year? Be realistic and gentle with yourself. Whether you want to read more books, pick up a new hobby, or improve your daily routine, these are your goals. They should motivate and inspire you, not cause stress.
Starting your goal planning journey might seem intimidating, but with the following tips, you can effectively begin your process:
Start Early: Don't wait until the last moment to plan your goals. Start early, giving yourself ample time to ponder and draft your objectives for the upcoming year. This is the perfect time of the year to crack open your planner and begin goal planning for 2024!
Embrace Mind Mapping: Mind mapping can be an effective tool to brainstorm and organize your goals visually. It helps you connect different ideas, making the planning process more efficient. Incorporate guided inserts like the [].
Set SMART Goals: Your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART). This approach not only provides clear direction but also makes tracking progress easier. Using the same notes page that you mapped your reflections on, write the SMART acronym, and relate your new goals to each branch. Example:
Goal: Read 25 books this year
Specific - Instead of “read more books,” we’ve specified “25 books”
Measurable - Each book can be logged. One idea to further this goal tracking is incorporating a Book Log Planning Insert.
Achievable - After reflecting on the past year, the goal of 50 was not realistic with our schedule. Instead, 25 is manageable while still feeling like an achievement!
Relevant - Perhaps while reflecting on past goals, we wanted to expand our knowledge, or specifically make time for the hobby of reading. This makes the goal relevant to our life.
Time-bound - “this year” binds the goal to the year. We may take it a step further and plan to read around 2 books a month. While writing this goal within a planner, we would want to write down a loose timeframe for reading, however without feeling restricting. This gives space for changes and relieves anxiety if we fall off of schedule some months.
Prioritize Your Goals: Not all goals carry equal weight. Identify which goals are most important to you and prioritize them accordingly. Avoid spreading yourself too thin by focusing on too many goals at the same time. Try using the getting things done method (GTD) when preparing and prioritizing your goals. The blog Create Your Own “Getting Things Done” Planner has great tips and ideas for adding the method to your routine, goal planning, and even creating a GTD Planner!
Flexibility is Key: Remember that it's okay to adjust your goals as circumstances change. Being flexible makes your planning more realistic and less stressful. It also provides space for creativity and new ideas, bringing excitement and enjoyment to the goal process. Add the [Mind Mapping Planner Insert] to freely discuss your goal process, future ideas, and your feelings within the journey.
Visual aids can be a huge help when it comes to tracking your progress and maintaining motivation. Consider using page markers in your personal planner to represent each step towards your goal, and motivational journaling cards as decoration. This can make the process feel more enjoyable and less like a chore.
And let's not forget about the importance of a good planner cover! A leather planner cover can add a touch of sophistication to your planning routine and protect your precious goals from everyday wear and tear. You’ll feel better opening your planner when it reflects the aesthetic that you strive for, increasing your motivation every day!
We all know that big goals can feel overwhelming, especially for those of us that struggle with ADHD or other disabilities that affect executive function. That's why it's beneficial to break goals down into smaller, manageable steps. If your goal is to read more books, a smaller step might be to read for 15 minutes each day. Use planner refills like the [] to keep track of these steps, and don't forget to celebrate each small victory along the way!
Consistency is key when it comes to goals. Regular check-ins can help keep you on track. Schedule these into a minimalist planner layout, be it weekly or monthly – whatever feels right for you. Read blogs like Your Guide to 2024 Inserts and How to Stop Procrastinating and Start Planning to dig into which calendar refills best fit your needs along with methods for maintaining consistency.
Remember, friends, the future doesn't have to be daunting. With a bit of reflection, realistic goal setting, and a sprinkle of creativity, you can make the new year your year of growth and achievement.
Here's to progress, not perfection!

October blogs were all about using positivity to fuel productivity! We’re excited about the blog Create Your Own “Getting Things Done” Planner, which breaks down the benefits of the GTD method and how you can shape your own planner for maximum use! Furthering the topic of getting things done, we also explored How to Stop Procrastinating and Start Planning, which uses uniquely effective techniques for “hacking” the procrastination cycle.
There’s no question as to why November always feels quietly anticipatory - it’s the quiet before the storm! And we’re ramping up for one of the most exciting weeks of the year: Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, and all the surprises between! Keep an eye out for our Holiday Gift Guide Blog next week, along with promotional sneak peeks leading up to the big release(s)...
Finally, we hope that you tune into Happy Hour Live every Thursday at 3:00 PM ET on Instagram and YouTube to hear more from Ashley and the team. See you there!
]]>
Before we dive into creating a GTD planner, let's take a closer look at the fundamental principles behind this popular time management and productivity system, which was established by productivity consultant, David Allen. At its core, GTD is all about capturing and organizing tasks in a comprehensive manner to offset those moments of forgetfulness and relieve your mental load.
The Power of Writing
One of the key tenets of GTD is putting pen to paper. By writing down all your tasks and commitments, you create a tangible record that frees up valuable mental space. This means important deadlines will no longer depend on your memory alone! Instead, everything will be neatly documented in your planner, allowing you to focus on what exactly needs to be done – without any unnecessary distractions.
Breaking Down Tasks
In order to effectively manage your workload, GTD encourages breaking down large tasks into smaller subtasks. This not only makes them more manageable but also allows for better planning and prioritization. Also, by setting specific deadlines for each subtask, you can ensure that progress is made consistently and avoid being overwhelmed by one final deadline.
Regular Reviews for Continuous Improvement
A crucial aspect of the GTD method is conducting regular reviews of your workload and performing self check-ins. This involves taking stock of all your tasks and projects, identifying any weaknesses in your system, and making necessary improvements. By consistently reviewing your planner, you'll stay on top of your commitments, maintain a clear overview of your progress, and make adjustments as needed to enhance your productivity.
We've simplified the method into 5 steps:
CAPTURE
Collect every task or note in one place.
CLARIFY
Establish how you will proceed with each item. Define if it’s actionable, something to put on hold, or something that can be discarded.
ORGANIZE
Now, organize each item that’s been observed.
REFLECT
Reestablish your control by reflecting again on your items once they’ve been organized.
ENGAGE
Advance in your task list using your established system.
Now that we have a clear understanding of the GTD method, let's explore how you can create a personalized GTD planner that suits your needs and preferences. Here are some essential components to consider when designing your planner:
Choosing the Right Format: Disc Planners
Disc planners are an excellent choice for GTD enthusiasts due to their flexibility and customization options. With disc-bound systems, you can easily add, remove, or rearrange pages as needed. This allows for seamless integration of various sections and ensures that your planner evolves alongside your changing priorities. You can easily get started with a Beginner Planner Bundle in Half Letter, HP Classic, or HP Mini size.
Incorporating Planner Refills
To maximize the effectiveness of your GTD planner, consider using specific planner refills designed with productivity in mind. These inserts often include dedicated sections for capturing tasks, organizing projects, scheduling appointments, and tracking progress. By utilizing these purpose-built tools, you can streamline your planning process and stay focused on what matters most. Great examples include the 2024 Dated Horizontal Weekly Inserts and Weekly Admin Inserts, which allow you to organize your tasks with a weekly overview. Alternatively, the Inbox Planner Inserts and Task Delegation Inserts provide a simplified view of all your incoming tasks so that you can organize by priority.
Embracing a Minimalist Approach
In the spirit of decluttering both our physical and mental spaces, adopting a minimalist approach to design can greatly enhance the functionality of your GTD planner. Once you've captured every piece of information and clarified your most vital priorities, focus on keeping layouts clean and uncluttered: prioritize essential information over unnecessary embellishments and choose a color scheme that promotes focus and clarity.
Many colors we offer coordinate across multiple accessories, so that you can create a simple, clean layout. Start by choosing a color or two from the line of Transparent Page Flags, then match with accessories of the same scheme. For example, the color Leche is also available as a Cloth & PaperClip, in Circle Page Flag Trio Vol. 9, and Page Pins!
While there are general guidelines to follow when creating a GTD planner, it's important to remember that everyone's needs are unique. Feel free to customize the system based on what works best for you. Here are some additional ideas to personalize your GTD system:
Adding Habit Trackers
Incorporating habit trackers into your daily or weekly pages can help you build positive routines and reinforce productive habits. Whether it's exercising, meditating, or reading, tracking your progress visually can be a powerful motivator. You may start with daily habit goals, or prefer to dedicate a section of your planner. Try starting with a Routine Builder Insert or add a Habit Tracking Sticky Note to your monthly/weekly sections.
Utilizing Project Pages and Mind Maps
For more complex projects, consider dedicating separate pages to brainstorm ideas, create mind maps, and outline action steps. This will allow you to have a comprehensive view of each project and ensure that no important details are overlooked. Some planning sets such as the Mind Mapping Inserts, Implementation Inserts, and Vision Board Inserts provide the space and guidance to truly dig into your projects and ideas while organizing every vital detail.
Implementing Time Blocking Techniques
Time blocking involves assigning specific time slots for different tasks or activities throughout your day. By allocating dedicated time periods for focused work, meetings, breaks, and personal activities, you can optimize your productivity and maintain a healthy work-life balance. If this sounds like a great technique for your routine, try using the 2024 Dated Planner Inserts | Weekly Schedule with the Time Block Sticker Set in lieu of a traditional calendar.
By embracing the "Getting Things Done" method and designing a personalized GTD planner, you're taking a significant step towards increasing productivity and achieving your goals with ease. Remember to prioritize capturing tasks in writing, break down larger tasks into smaller subtasks with specific deadlines, and conduct regular reviews to fine-tune your system. With the right format, customized sections, and minimalist design principles in place, your GTD planner will become an indispensable tool on your journey towards success. So why wait? Start planning today and unlock the full potential of the GTD method!

Let’s take a moment to realize something: procrastination is not laziness, lack of time management, nor a personal failure. Instead, it’s a way we protect ourselves from uncomfortable emotions such as anxiety, boredom, self-doubt, etc. The feeling of short-term relief when we procrastinate overrides our big picture motivation.
Often, those that procrastinate do not do so because they don’t care, but because they care a lot. Many perfectionists fall into this mindset, or those with many responsibilities. Additionally, individuals with executive dysfunction (not having the typical abilities to plan, organize, and complete tasks) or ADHD experience the same issues. Sometimes the idea of completing an undesirable task will almost feel like experiencing actual pain.
Start by being kind to yourself. “Forgive” yourself for procrastinating - let go of any self-chastising thoughts or feelings. If you kick yourself for procrastinating, it’ll just create a cycle of negativity. So let go and give yourself grace. You’re human, not a machine, so you likely won’t feel like completing every task that appears. That’s okay - engage with your feelings and understand it’s only natural to want to avoid some chores.
Then, the first step for starting tasks is to plan them. Nope, we don’t mean pen to paper, or even digitally. Planning starts mentally! Mentally map out how you’d accomplish a task. For example, say you have a sink full of dishes. Imagine how you’d tackle it: “First, I might clean the dishes. I would walk to the kitchen, pick up the sponge, and clean what’s dirty. Then, I’ll likely rinse the sink. I know I’ll feel really relieved if I complete those steps.” Envision the process as clearly as possible; try to engage with the feelings of accomplishment. By picturing how you’ll complete a task, you put motivation behind it and feel more comfortable with the process.
An alternative “hack” for procrastination is: when you find yourself with free time and remember a task - do it right then and there. Don’t give yourself time to ruminate: if you think it, do it. By already putting yourself in motion, you’re less likely to abandon a task, whereas when you think on a task beforehand, it gives an opening for those negative emotions to bubble up and you might remain stagnant.
Experiment with these two methods to identify which thinking/emotional patterns work best for you. Try to also identify any roadblocks: Are you unable to complete a certain task because that means you’ll need to finish another? Example: I need to clean the dishes, but first I’ll need to collect any dishes from other rooms, and that feels like a lot of work. In cases like this, start with just bit-sized chunks of work. Dedicate some time to only collecting/organizing dishes. Then, the next set of chore time can be dedicated to actually cleaning them.
A key to planning for tasks when you procrastinate? Making things as simple as possible for yourself. Create a compact, simplified checklist using something like Memo Sticky Notes or the Everyday Carry Notebook.
Only write three pressing tasks at a time, and dedicate timeframes for them, not exact times. Then, describe how you’ll feel once it’s been accomplished, or give yourself a reward. Continuing our example, a checklist may look like this:
After I’ve completed this, the kitchen will feel refreshing and I’ll enjoy a relaxing evening reading.
You’ve taken one task that feels like a mountain, and broken it up into digestible pieces while engaging with the positive feelings behind accomplishing it. Make completing chores feel as relieving and rewarding as it should be: Light a candle, put on some music, or watch a cozy planning video while you work. “Hack” procrastination by chasing away the negative feelings, and welcome positive feelings!

The aesthetic of academia is appealing, and a secret to capturing it is by surrounding yourself with the academic life you seek! If you’re considering starting a planner or academic-centered workspace as a student, we have five exciting tips for furthering your love of learning and maintaining the aesthetic around it.
If you’re a student looking to start planning, you’re likely already overwhelmed with documents and task lists. We’ve made it easy for students to pick up our Student Bundle and begin planning their academic life immediately! (We recommend A5 size for plenty of writing room, or Personal for mobility).
(In this bundle, you’ll receive our Clear Vinyl Planner, Academic Planner Insert Bundle, The Capacity To Do Planner Dashboard, Kanban Planner Dashboard, Cornell Style Note Inserts, and Blank Tab Sticky Note Set | Fawn.)
Each item was carefully selected to serve you in your journey as a student. The Academic Planner Insert Bundle includes pages for your class schedule, course overviews, due dates, monthly and weekly overviews, grade tracking, password tracking, and contacts.
The Kanban Dashboard is a functional organizational item; you can section off your planner and use the dashboard to organize your tasks. Cornell Style Note Inserts are perfect for note-taking across various subjects. Finally, use the Blank Tab Sticky Notes to jot quick notes or write your daily task list and reminders – don’t forget that you can use these with your dashboard!
Dedicated planners aren’t for everyone. Sometimes, a notebook does the job perfectly! If this sounds like your planning/study style as a student, we have you covered. The Espana Spiral Notebook | A5 (Executive Interior) is high-quality, with ample writing space, and an executive design.
The executive layout is phenomenal for daily notebook planning - you have the option of keeping it organized by date, or you can simply use the grid space, or organize by subject! A similar option is the Executive Notes Notebook | Graph Paper | A5, which includes more flexible material.
Examples for use: write your daily assignment list, your schedule for the day, any lecture notes, and learning points you'd like to study further - this design is limitless!
Alternatively, a sticky note set like the Memo Sticky Notes can be utilized daily and then kept within your bag, on your laptop/ipad, or any other accessible space that allows you to keep track of your academic ventures.
If you’re feeling unsure about using a full notebook, start with a Pocket Plus notebook like the Undated Horizontal Weekly or Everyday Carry. These are small enough to fit in any bag, and provide enough room to plan your academic tasks.
Part of making planning work for you as a student is making your workspace work for you! If you’re still unsure about dedicated planners, try adding your student planning to your workspace. This way, you don’t necessarily need to keep track of any supplies – they’re already worked into your routine! A great example is the Monthly Admin Desk Pad. Keep it pinned above or on your desk or even double its use as a mousepad! Either way, your academic plans will be available at-a-glance.
Also try to incorporate accessories that aren’t exactly for pen-to-paper planning, but can serve as motivation. An example is the Acrylic Desk Stand, which can show off your favorite journaling cards, calendar cards, or even the dark, expressive Botanica Card Deck. Speaking of Journaling Cards, have you tried clipping them to an inspo board, with other photos and string lights, or even in the front of your journal? Keep all of your incoming documents secure with a luxe Paperweight, and organize them with our Arched Folder. With just a few of these changes, your desk space will be transformed to assist in organizing and elevating your student journey!
Personally, I get motivation for beginning projects by envisioning the aesthetic I seek. When it comes to student life, “academia” is a social media trend that inspires me to fully fall into student life. Motivation to plan may come by first setting the tone with trendy, exciting items that make you want to use them! Check New Arrivals, Planning YouTube Videos, and Planning Blogs for inspiration. Try different ideas!
Curating an academic planning aesthetic can be as simple as opting for more high-end, luxurious supplies. Study session coming up? Grab our Tabbed Index Cards. Need to keep all of your writing supplies together? Our Nylon Pencil Pouch was made for you. Looking for a carry-all for your student supplies? Opt for the C&P Tote.
Other options for refreshing your academic supplies include compact, chic scissors like the Kokuyo Saxa Poche, elegant Artisan Paper Tape, and an item like the Kokuyo Gloo Roller Tape to amend writing mistakes.
Believe it or not, while planning can be very personal, a fun aspect the community enjoys is how social it can be! For your study sessions, study group meetings, and library outings, try to plan with a friend. If you have trouble finding study buddies, take a look at the How to Start Your Own Planner Club Blog Post, get involved with events that line up with your academic interests, or even search for online groups!
Not only does including others with your planning provide positive social interactions, opening the way for more opportunities and friendships, but it also serves as a light accountability check - it's more difficult to shirk academic duties when a reliable friend supports you!
Annotation is a fun, engaging learning method that academics, professionals, and readers alike enjoy! By definition, annotation is an active learning strategy used to enhance your comprehension of text and retain the information learned. Typically, annotation is used for studying, digesting new material, or as a fun hobby. You’re more likely to remember what you’ve read, improve your observation skills, and enjoy the time spent with the text if you practice annotating while reading. Let’s consider how you can annotate academically, professionally, and personally – like a pro!
Begin by noting what you’re expected to learn from the text. An important part of annotation is not simply highlighting, but using it in such a way that you are able to relate the text without having it in front of you. A great tool for this is using margin or a separate space, such as the Cornell Style Note Inserts or España Spiral Notebook | A5 | Mykonos (Cornell Interior) to take notes about your annotations. Once you've established the main idea, or what you're learning from the next, start summarizing key phrases or quotes in your own words. There's likely educational patterns within the text, so try taking note of key concepts/phrases that are recurring in the material.
Everyone learns differently, so the same is true for annotation methods. Try different methods to activate your thinking! Start by balancing how much information you include in your annotations. Too much information creates the same mental load as simply reading the text, while not including enough misses the core information that you need. To balance this, try creating an annotation key. The Half Page Graph Inserts work great as a key, while the Zebra Sarasa Mark On Pen is perfect, as it is specifically made for annotation purposes, meaning it's quick-drying and won't cause smearing! Here are examples for creating an annotation key:
Part of what makes annotation fun is the fact that you are holding a conversation wth the text, directly engaging with it. Don't shy away from writing down passing questions or comments that you have! You may also want to mark within the text instead of using separate tools - mark away! As Desiderius Erasmus said, "thumb them, batter them, wear them out,.. fill out all the margins with annotations of many kinds..."
In this case, grab the High Level Highlighter in colors Frost, Glacier, + Ocean (to match the Mykonos notebook!) While you're at it, the Matchstick Page Flag Set | Vol 1 and Page Pins function as great page markers so that you can find all of these quotes and exciting passages!
Just as we mentioned earlier, everyone learns differently, and so everyone annotates differently. If you're someone who prefers to (or must) leave the text in pristine condition, no worries! The Transparent Sticky Notes and Transparent Pill Tab Sticky Notes were practically made for you. Layer these over the material, then write your annotations, highlight, and mark away! (We recommend the Uni Pin Marking Pen to write on the transparent material). The best part? The sticky notes can be removed and transferred to your notes, keeping everything in one place!
The beauty of annotation is that it becomes whatever you want it to be while increasing your critical thinking and observation skills. So go ahead, pick up your books and be sure to batter them, wear them out, fill out all the margins with annotations of many kinds, and watch how the text speaks back.

What exactly is needed to start planning? Here are the simplified basics:
That’s it! So, what does this mean for simplifying or refreshing your routine? We’ll need to establish a solid foundation to ensure that our planning routine is actually effective in relieving mental load and making life easier.
Start by establishing the “space” that works best for you. Answer these questions:
Which size planner is most comfortable for you?
Do notebooks or notepads work better for you than planners?
Does digital planning work better for you than physical?
When it comes to your planning environment, do you feel most comfortable at your desk, in your car, in bed, at a cafe, or somewhere else?
What time(s) do you feel most inspired to plan?
Then, the tools you need to plan:
Which writing tools do you need?
Any organizational necessities?
What brings you joy in planning?
What are your absolute favorite planning items?
What parts of your planning routine relieves mental load and brings you organizational relief?
Consider if there are certain accessories that bring you focus and joy in planning. “Tools” can include inspirational photos, videos, and vision boards – or even making your planning routine a social event.
For example, I function best with sticky notes nearby at all times, along with a folder to organize stray documents. So, my planning basics include: a planner, a pen, a folder set, and sticky notes. These basics are the items that are required as part of my routine each day - I literally would not be able to plan without them.
Now, evaluate your answers to the questions above. Take those answers and file them under two sections:
SPACE
TOOLS
SPACE
Size: HP Mini
Prefer physical planner with discs
Plan best at an empty desk
Plan best at lunch time, after taking medications
TOOLS
I need sticky notes for quick jots
I need folder sets for stray documents and when I don’t have time to organize
Joy in planning: “mini” aesthetics, creative + alternative journaling
Fav products: chunky pens, dashboards that can layer, and unique accessories
Part of planning that relieves mental load: having accessible checklists
Now, I pair methods/products with my answers:
SPACE
Physical planner in HP Mini size with discs: HP Mini Planner
After taking medications, on lunch break, I’ll plan at my cleaned desk
TOOLS
Sticky notes that allow me to create checklists: Memo Sticky Notes
Making my checklists accessible and organized: Sticky Note Holder
Folders for organizing: CEO Folder Set
Organization method: using “To Be Sorted,” “Inserts,” and “Personal” tabs to fit planning needs; CEO Label Stickers
Can journal creatively with customizable layout: Espana Spiral Notebook | CP Petite; very portable; note to take time to find journaling ideas on Pinterest and FB C&P Insider
Prefer “mini” aesthetic: Mini Shape Sticker Set + Clear Ruler Journaling Card; keep clipped in planner rather than in a holder
Chunky pen: Zebra Sarasa Dry Airfit Grip Pen
Layering that fits my style: “Humanism” Renaissance Dashboard under Crystal Clear Inbox Arch Dashboard, and Assorted Journaling Cards between; layering goals: elegant but inspirational
Unique accessories that bring me joy: Leché Cloth & PaperClip, Artisan Paper Tape, Kokuyo GLOO Roller Tape; minimal accessories that fit my aesthetic but are also functional
And that completes an essential planning kit with a basic routine! I’ll have a full HP Mini Planner to start planning, sticky notes with their holder for my daily checklist, a folder set to organize my desk, a space dedicated to journaling, along with accessories that complete my routine: stickers, journaling cards, a paperclip, and layered dashboards for the front of my planner. I like to call it my capsule planning collection: it has the essential, most necessary items I need to feel organized, joyful, and relieve “mental load.”
Now that you have an outline of what you require for your essential planning needs, it’s time to transform your planning supplies and routine to fit that. If items/ideas come to mind while answering the earlier questions, note them. Take a look at blogs, YouTube videos, Instagram posts and browse the website to see what sparks your interest (while fitting with your planning needs). For example, you may realize that you plan best with notebooks, but can’t decide which one is best for you. In this case, Choosing Which Planning Notebook is Perfect for You would be a great resource! Or, if you’re having trouble finding which dated calendar design you work best with, the 2024 Dated Insert deep dive video is perfect!
You may have worries about this process, such as: “I’ve created my essentials list, and it’s a lot! There’s nothing 'essential' or 'basic' about 20+ planning items!” In this case, go back through your list. Consider with each item: will this elevate my planning routine? Is it essential to creating space? Is it essential as a tool? If you’re still left with 20 planning items after answering these questions, that is your essentials list!
Take time to engage with what truly moves you – that’s what will matter most when you’re planning. Your planner is a symbol of manifestation; you are building – manifesting – what your life, goals, and achievements look like. That’s why planning, while fun, is also very personal, and a powerful tool for elevating your present so that you’re prepared for an even greater future.

Planner Size: Half Letter and Mini HP
Planner Cover: Varied
2024 Dated Insert Design(s) Being Used: I am using Horizontal Weekly Inserts for my schedule in my Mini HP. I am using the monthly pages from the Horizontal Monthly Inserts to monitor my Social Media in another section in this planner. I use multiple planners. In both my Work Planner and my Marketing and Technology Planner (both Half Letter), I am using the Year Overview Inserts and the 2024 Year at a Glance Dashboard.
Favorite C&P Product: How can I choose – I love everything, but if I had to pick, I would say all the different spiral notebooks (and the sub boxes).
When it comes to building your 2024 planner, what are you most excited about?
I love setting up the planners for the new year. It is a great opportunity to refresh the planner. I put in 3 months of the monthly and 2-3 months of the weekly at a time. I archive everything.
What do you love about the dated inserts you chose?
Horizontal layouts work best for me so I can see appointments on the left side and To Do Items on the right. I am so excited to get the full size boxes in the monthly. The Year Overview is such a useful insert to plan your goals and reflect on your accomplishments quarterly and monthly. That is why I use in 2 different planners.
Tell us about your ideas for re-organizing/re-designing your planner in preparation for 2024!
I am not planning to reorganize this year. I currently have planner peace (is that really possible?), so will be keeping my multiple planner set-up, but changing out dashboards, and accessories for the new year in addition to the 2024 inserts.
What is your advice for others building a new planner who don't know where to start?
A great place to start is a planner consultation. There are so many ways to set up your planner, and some guidance can jump start your planner organization customized to your personal needs.
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
My planning style is luxe neutral. I use mostly black, white and gray. The only accent color I use is some olive green, and I am so glad that Cloth & Paper has introduced me to so many olive products in the last year!

2024 Dated Insert Design(s) Being Used: For 2024 I am using a Yearly Overview, Horizontal Weekly, and a Dated Daily Planner Insert.
Favorite C&P Product: This is so hard to narrow down but my favorite Cloth and Paper product has to be page flags. I probably have every color and shape.
When it comes to building your 2024 planner, what are you most excited about?
When it comes to building my 2024 planner, I’m most excited about using the new monthly layout. I am in love with the bigger squares and its ability to be separated from the weeks or daily that it comes with.
What do you love about the dated inserts you chose?
I love the Dated Daily Inserts because it motivates me to plan everyday. I feel like I can’t waste a day, although it does happen, so I have to make time and plan my day out. Of course, it also helps me with my tasks, schedules, and tracking things.
Tell us about your ideas for re-organizing/re-designing your planner in preparation for 2024!
For 2024, I am thinking of sticking with a theme. I love the simplicity of neutral colors in my planner but still add function. So I want to use neutral accessories (stickers, dashboards, journaling cards and sticky notes) that serves a purpose and not just decor. I love using cohesive colors that still motivates and inspire me when I look at it.
What is your advice for others building a new planner who don't know where to start?
If you’re trying to build a new planner my main advice would be to write down what you want to have in your planner (sections, inserts, etc.). This will allow you to see how much space, pages, and different inserts you will need. Planning out your planner is real. I do this every year because every year it can change. It helps me narrow down my planner purchases.
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
For 2024 my color inspiration is my planner, which is in Cortado. I want to use neutral hues in my planner to tie it all in. I’m loving the Ibiza stickers, Moscow square page flags, ristretto spotlight stickers, circle page flags in volume 2, neutral sticky note in saddle, and all the neutral journaling cards.
Are there any other details/tips you’d like to share?
I am really enjoying my Foundations planner especially because of the big pocket in the back. This feature allows me to carry important paper work, notepad sheets, and most of all extra stickers. I didn’t always carry stickers with me but with this planner I do. You never know when you’ll need to note something and add a dot sticker to make it stand out!

2024 Dated Insert Design(s) Being Used: Dated Horizontal Weekly, Dated Daily, Year Overview Inserts
Favorite C&P Product: Task Delegation Inserts
When it comes to building your 2024 planner, what are you most excited about?
I'm most excited about having the entire year accessible at one time. For the past 2yrs, I've finally perfected the system FOR ME. I keep the full year in my main planner (mini hp) along with Notes and a purchase tracker (divided using the Essential Dividers). Simple & straight to the point.
What do you love about the dated inserts you chose?
The Horizontal Weekly works well with my brain. I can easily identify items/tasks that are most important and see my week as a whole - prioritization is a must and this format helps me prioritize weekly tasks. This year I also opted to add the Dated Daily for my CP Petite. While the Mini HP is completely portable as an on-the-go planner, the CP Petite has taken the #1 spot. As an on-the-go/as-needed planner, it only made sense to choose daily. When I'm out and about, I'm usually running errands from a list. The Dated Daily format is ideal for tracking to-do lists along with keeping up with appointments for the day.
Tell us about your ideas for re-organizing/re-designing your planner in preparation for 2024!
For 2024, the only other big change in addition to what I mentioned above will be adding a few additional dividers to my MHP. Currently I use the Essential Dividers and within my Notes + Lists section, I'd like to divide up my Lined Notes, Task Delegation and Task List Inserts for more customization and easy access.
What is your advice for others building a new planner who doesn't know where to start?
My advice for someone just starting out, identify how you want to manage your calendar - do you need either a monthly, weekly or daily, or a combination of all 3? This should be the meat & potatoes of your planner. Next, think about how to work through and organize your tasks/to-do lists. Outline everything else as a reference and determine what other sections you need for a day-to-day planner.
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
I don't usually have a specific color palette or theme, I generally gravitate toward black & white as a base and then I'll pick a specific color for my monthly layout using the circle page flags, mini shape stickers, etc. This year and going into 2024, I am leaning towards more muted tones, specifically olives and browns.
Are there any other details/tips you’d like to share?
Planning is personal. Make whatever you use work for you. Adopt your own, unique style of planning. Simple and straightforward to achieve your goals and maintain a consistent level of productivity is always best.

When it comes to building your 2024 planner, what are you most excited about?
I’m most excited about customizing a planner to specifically meet my needs and using a new planner size. Each year, I take a step back and identify my current needs as well as evaluate what is working and what is not. I have realized that I need something compact that will easily fit in any bag. Throughout the year, I used my CP Petite just for note-taking. I realized it was perfect for on-the-go planning. This upcoming year, I’ve decided to upgrade it to a full planner with all of the C&P accessories!
What do you love about the dated inserts you chose?
Functionality is something that is extremely important to me. As a teacher, a content creator, a wife and mom, I need an insert that is functional and easy to use. I’m an elementary school teacher. I teach various grades and my daily schedule is never the same. The Dated Daily Inserts will help me stay organized and productive. I love that I can set goals and plan for the month. Each week, I will be able to create a running to-do list as well as take notes and add top priorities and tasks. Behind each month, there is a note section where I can keep important information from meetings. The agenda will allow me to write in my own times, which as you can see is important to my daily schedule.
I also chose the Monthly Inserts with a Monday start for my CP Petite. In order for me to truly know where my time is going, I like to see a “birds-eye view” of my month. From there, I’ll plan my weeks and use the Task List Inserts to jot down daily notes.
For personal use, I chose the Weekly Horizontal Inserts. I’ve used these inserts from the beginning. They are a staple in my planning systems. These inserts allow me to highlight important timed tasks on the left and create a daily list of home chores, meals, and errands on the right. To be honest, this insert is in every one of my planners! Yes, that’s how much I love it!
Tell us about your ideas for re-organizing/re-designing your planner in preparation for 2024!
Prepping for a new year is a great way to reset your planner. It allows you to be intentional about your needs, while assessing what worked or needs to be tweaked. I’m excited to try out my CP Petite as my planner instead of a notebook. Since I’m using it as an on-the go planner I really only need 3 sections: Schedule, Finances, and Notes. I want it to be simple and efficient. In order to fill my CP Petite with beautiful dashboards and accessories, of course, I subscribe to the monthly planning box. This way my planner continues to stay “fresh” throughout the year.
What is your advice for others building a new planner who don't know where to start?
When building a new planner, here’s 4 things I suggest to keep in mind:
PURPOSE
Start with understanding the purpose of your planner. Will it be for wellness and health, meal planning, personal, professional, or everything? Deciding what your purpose for the planner will also be your foundation while building it.
SIZE OF PLANNER
Planner sizes vary from very large to extra small. I would start by looking at your writing size. If you write large, you definitely want to look more at the larger planners such as a Classic or A5. If you write on the smaller size, then take a look at the HP Mini or Personal planners. Also, decide if the planner will stay at home or work on a desk vs on the go. I use the CP Petite for on the go because it’s small and portable. My half letter is a little larger, so I leave it on my desk at work.
Make sure you take a look at the Cloth and Paper size guide to find the perfect fit.
LAYOUT (Horizontal, Weekly Schedule, Vertical)
There are so many layouts to choose from, but the good news is you can choose as many as needed! Choosing a layout goes back to identifying your needs and planning style. If you enjoy making lists, I would recommend the weekly horizontal or the vertical weekly lined inserts. These are both perfect for creating to-do lists. Perhaps you are in need of an insert with a schedule, try out the new weekly schedule. I’m thinking about adding it to my system as well.
ACCESSORIES
This is where the fun begins! Accessories are what is used to make your planner stand out. I love adding journaling cards in the pockets as well as throughout my planner. These are great visual elements that offer encouragement. My favorite thing to do is layering. I enjoy laying a piece of handwritten vellum over a dashboard with an abstract photo. My favorite one is the Perspective Discbound Cover Planner Dashboard! It’s beautiful!
Customizing a planner to suit your needs will change your life….just like it changed mine!
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
I LOVE neutrals and they go perfectly with C&P’s sleek minimalistic style! My color scheme inspiration comes from the SPOTLIGHT Page Flags with the colors Saddle, Moscow, and Crepe. These colors will be a great accent to my CP Petite in Fossil!
Are there any other details/tips you’d like to share?
Make sure your planner reflects you and your needs. It’s easy to fall down the rabbit hole and purchase everything you see on social media. Remember the purpose of your planner and how it will meet your needs. If you are new to planning, I would suggest trying the monthly subscription box. Each month, you will be introduced to new designs, layouts and/or dashboards. In time you will figure out your planning style! Happy Planning!

What is your advice for others building a new planner who don't know where to start?
Make a list of everything you want in your planner, cross off what you don’t really need, then start shopping for best inserts.
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
I try to be as minimal as possible; too much “stuff” I do not really need overwhelms me and then the planner is no longer useful to me. And I won’t reach for it. My palette is black/white/soft pink or neutrals. I like to choose dashboards and journaling cards that uplift and resonate with me personally.

2024 Dated Insert Design(s) Being Used: Using the sub box inserts that we received, I really fell in love with the Weekly Schedule Inserts; AND I am a dailies kind of gal, so its a toss up between the weekly time schedule and new Dated Dailies for my A5 desk
Favorite C&P Product: LOVE the Luxe Page Flags
When it comes to building your 2024 planner, what are you most excited about?
New layout for monthly will allow me to use the square page flags, this is a GAME CHANGER for me, as I like writing in the monthly items, but prefer to use sticky notes, this allows for changes without having to use white out!! 😉 I am so picky about neatness in my planner!!
What do you love about the dated inserts you chose?
The revised monthly which allows for me to use square sticky notes which allows for ease in changes. I love the weekly time schedule because it allows me to leave my planner open on my desk for a week at a glance!
What is your advice for others building a new planner who don't know where to start?
Start simple. Define what you want to achieve from your planner, whether it's for personal notes, for weekly tasks, for appointments, etc.
Are you using a specific color palette or theme for 2024? If so, tell us about it!
I am in love with the olive color pens, sticky notes, transparent page flags, so I want to coordinate my Cortado A5 cover with maybe an Olive theme.

YOUR GUIDE TO THE 2024 INSERT RELEASE
HEIRLOOM LEATHER FOLIO AND NOTEBOOK COLLECTION
CHOOSING WHICH PLANNING NOTEBOOK IS PERFECT FOR YOU
To refresh your mental health is to start with healthy habits, set intentions, and declutter the mind. Sound familiar with your planning goals? We’ll focus on a few areas of the planner and mind that can be refreshed: organization, wellness, and intentionality.
The easiest way to declutter – organization! Ensure that everything in your planner space has a “spot”. Use a folder system such as the CEO Folder Set to keep extra documents from cluttering your desk and planner. Add in a handy Sticky Note Holder along with a place for your pens, like the Essentials Pouch | Large.
When it comes to pens, if you need to declutter, keep just three as essentials: a reliable pen, multi use pen, and specialized pen. For example, the Zebra Sarasa Dry Airfit Grip is a great reliable option, as it provides a comfortable grip and quick-drying ink for all writing styles. The Uni Pin Marking Pen is oil-based so it works on transparent material, and is great for creating lines or other designs. Finally, the Uni Posca Paint Marker: ideal for dark paper, dry erase boards, and textured material.
Now that your planning accessories have their place, items in your planner should too. Take the stress out of needing to mentally recall where your grocery list has been written by adding in dividers or tabs. The Essentials Side Tab Planner Dividers provide a simplistic, flexible organization system.
Try adding a dashboard that provides a function to maximize your planner's organizational use - but don’t overwhelm yourself. Great options include the Kanban Planner Dashboard and Morning Mindset Half Page Planner Dashboard. Even better, the Intentional Planning Planner Dashboard can be used to create a basic planner section and as a simplified planning guide.
Alright, you’ve refreshed your planning space and are ready to do the same for your mental health! Guess what? You’ve already started! By creating these organizational flows, you’ve started a healthy habit. When you realize a paper is out of place, your brain will be relieved of extra stress because you already have created a space to put the item, taking off some mental-load.
The better your body feels, the better your mind will, and vice versa. If your planner calls for a refresh, there’ll be no better time to start a wellness section than now! The easiest way to start is by picking up a Daily Wellness Planner Insert Bundle and dedicate a section of your planner to wellness (thank you, Wellness Section Dashboard!).
However, creating an entire section may be too overwhelming, especially if you’re looking to simplify your planner. If this is the case, instead opt for just one insert that supports wellness, such as Daily Gratitude Log Planner Inserts, Mental Wellness Inserts, or Journaling Planner Inserts.
You may be wondering: how can you make your wellness goals also reflect within your planner? Align your wellness planning with your intentions.
Setting intentions also frees mental load while also making your planning routine feel fresh. Make your planning choices count: they should simplify your life, make you feel good, and bring you closer to your goals.
Some people feel they should use a new planner each time they refresh their planning routine, as it symbolically washes away bad habits or and opens new doors. Opting for a discbound planner saves space, resources, and money, as you can easily switch your dashboards and discs (what “makes” a discbound planner a planner) without actually purchasing an entirely new planner. Whether you’re someone who likes to change their planner or keep the same one, the Heirloom Collection is a great option as planner covers. They’ll last a lifetime, so you’ll always have a protective cover for your discbound planner while still having the flexibility of customization!
To refresh your planner and keep a clear mind, start very simple. Let’s start with your choice of calendar inserts from the 2024 Dated Insert Collection. After choosing a calendar, you’ve created a brand new planner in its simplest form, ready for personal touches! Remember all of those helpful wellness recommendations? Choose the one that you think you’d use and benefit from most. Add that, and don’t forget dividers to organize – even if you only have two sections: calendar and wellness.
If you’re unsure of which inserts to add, start by making a list of planning methods that have worked best for you. Take a look at the insert options and choose one that aligns best with your planning goals. Another idea is research: Take a look at other posts in the Cloth & Paper Planning Blog and YouTube Channel. Engage with whatever interests you most and work from there. All of the interesting ideas and products can be overwhelming, so don’t forget to keep it simple! Which item will simplify your life and relieve your mental load? Make a list, and choose just one or two.
Surprisingly, something that can be easily missed when refreshing a planner and focusing on mental health is happiness. Take a step back and engage with yourself. How often do you make decisions based on the lens of others? How often do you make decisions based on expectation, and not how you want to? Here’s some great news: it’s possible to manifest a fresh future while still aligning with yourself.
The Kondo method took storm almost a decade ago, and it’s still relevant! It may feel silly, but focus on each of your planner items one at a time. Which items make you feel joy? Open, free, inspired? Refreshed? Which items make you feel excited to open your planner? Engage with that feeling! Not every planning item you use needs to be dedicated to function. This may feel oppositional to what’s been previously discussed. That’s the magic of planning and mental wellness: it’s a journey. It’ll look different for everyone, and you may need to test a few different ideas before you find your flow.

Heirlooms carry heritage, memories, and purpose; transcending time across generations. The Heirloom Collection is specially designed so that you can create your own unique heirloom. The long–lasting leather is meant to be reused for both sustainability purposes and to highlight how priceless your own legacy is.
An heirloom doesn’t become an heirloom just by existing. Add your own personal touch by actively using your planner. Eventually, your planner may display typical signs of wear – that’s your mark being recorded within the leather! There’s a common saying: Nice things are meant to be used. Perfumes are meant to be sprayed, candles are meant to be burned, clothes are meant to be worn. Your planner is meant to be used. Write in it, fill it with all of your favorite inserts, pictures, cards; add all the paperclips, carry it anywhere and everywhere – let the beauty of your everyday life embed itself within its stitches. Stop waiting for a good day to use nice things; use nice things to have good days.
Then, your planner will become a special heirloom that can be passed down to loved ones who are ready to manifest their own legendary journey.
What’s the purpose of archiving? Preservation. Your family history – way of life, names, family tree, familial traditions, lore, goals, accomplishments – all deserve to be recorded. The España Spiral Notebook Collection is designed with archiving in mind. The front exposed spiral construction allows for you to label the spine (try an oil-based marker like the Uni Pin Pen) to then display within a bookcase or other organization system. Then, keep delicate loose cards, papers, photos etc., within the Pocket Folder, which fits our spiral notebooks. Alternatively, for more expansive paper archiving, store a few sets of our CEO Folders. Dedicate each folder for certain items based on your needs: “Dated Photos”, “Undated Items”, “Letters”, “Records”, “Genealogy Tracking”, etc.
With the España Notebooks’ simplistic designs, you can record your family history in a variety of ways. The Dot Grid, Lined, and Graph interiors may be customized with sub-headers, such as “Family Tree,” or each page can be dedicated to a year, a person, or a family story. For example, I plan to sit down with family members and use a recording device before transferring our conversation to paper. This means an entire notebook section will be labeled “Familial Oral History Transcript”.
“If you know where you are from, it will be harder for people to stop you where you are going.” ― Matshona Dhliwayo
It’s typically difficult building a family archive from scratch. So, let’s set up the rest of your familial line for success! One of the most common ways people plant their roots is through journaling. For a unique record, the España Executive interior may be used by recording your own day-to-day with the intent to be passed down your generational line. You can record your day-to-day, as mentioned, or write letters to your past/future self, your descendants, to a religious figure, or to nobody at all. The point is that you are cementing your roots; providing a rich foundation for family to look back on and build from.
Remember, “family” is a varied community. Whether part of a nuclear family, found family, or mixed family, your familial community is valid and valuable.
For example, my group of non-related loved ones – an example of “found family" – has agreed to create a digital and written archive of our journey together. We will print valued messages and photos to then be stored. We’ll group each set of items together with sturdy Catch All Clips, store smaller photos, movie tickets, and sticky notes within an Essentials Pouch, save birthday cards and Gratitude Cards we’ve written to each other, and keep a record of everything each person has accomplished; each Goal Map we’ve created will be preserved to reflect on in years to come.
Alternatively, perhaps your family does not necessarily want to keep a record of their lives as a group. You can still help build each other up and pursue a positive outlook by adding Daily Gratitude and/or quick Everyday journaling to your daily routine. Try creating a family Bucket List so that you’re always planning and engaging in quality time together while building lasting memories. Legacy isn’t all about leaving your mark on the world, but instead leaving a loving, strengthening influence on your community – your family.

This said, many people in the planning community are searching for ways to plan that lean towards a more simple aesthetic. If this concept matches your planning style, then this blog is dedicated to you! We've curated recommendations that can appeal to a variety of lifestyles with clean lines, functional structure and durability.
]]>This said, many people in the planning community are searching for ways to plan that lean towards a more simple aesthetic. If this concept matches your planning style, then this blog is dedicated to you! We've curated recommendations that can appeal to a variety of lifestyles with clean lines, functional structure and durability.
The Engineering Grid Desk Pad is a perfect way to add some clean, simple lines to your planning space! Some use it purely for engineering purposes, and due to the grid design and simple notes space, it can be customized to fit your planning needs. If you’d rather keep the engineering design within a planner, the Engineering Grid Planner Inserts are available in many sizes. Add a Page Marker for maximum functionality: use it to mark your place in your planner and to measure grid space.
A simple, portable notebook like the Everyday Carry Notebook in Graph and Lined is ideal for those that prefer not to use a planner and instead need a place to keep everyday notes. One planner in the C&P community keeps track of his hobbies using the understated graph layout. For example, since he enjoys multiple facets of fishing, such as creating lures and tracking catches, he carries these notebooks for quick, easy note taking.
Due to the minimal design, he can use each page for a different use: catch measurements, details, and traits, along with weather/water level tracking, ideas for bait-making, and materials/supply tracking with cost.
For those searching for simplistic calendar tracking, the Monthly Admin Desk Pad or Monthly Admin Planner Inserts are the way to go! These designs include a simplistic monthly overview, task list, section for important dates, and additional notes space.
Heirloom Leather Folio | Large | Small | CP Petite
With specially crafted top-grain cowhide leather, these folios provide ultra-durability and tough stitching so that your planner will last. Many customers who prefer simpler styles appreciate the Heirloom line’s sleek, clean design and subtle colors. Match with the equally premium, versatile España Spiral Notebooks (A5 or CP Petite) for coordination that will maximize your productivity. (This duo also serves as a fantastic Holiday gift for those who appreciate a clean, simple aesthetic!) Finally, add elevated organization with the Leather Cloth & PaperClip to keep your place in your planner, or clip papers and slips within.
Have the planners in your family ever mentioned that they prefer to plan things in the moment, as opposed to in advance? We’ve heard this many times, so we recommend choosing undated designs that can be used in a variety of ways. Note that these spiral notebooks fit this preference!
Those who appreciate a more streamlined aesthetic lean towards planning tools and accessories that are understated. Simplicity is a core theme here at Cloth & Paper, so many of our accessories fit this theme perfectly.
If you need page flags for marking pages, highlighting notes, or just to add a smidge of color, reach for the Matchstick Set Vol 3. These match the color theme of all the items mentioned above, so everything fits cleanly and professionally.
When it comes to sticky notes, many have mentioned that they prefer plain sticky notes over ones with headers. Great options that fit this style are the Arrow Sticky Notes and Note Neutrality Sticky Notes. These are monotone without headers or pre-designed lists, so they can be used in any manner and setting needed. Use with the M&G Noiseless Gel Pen for quiet planning and comfortability.
Don’t feel that you need to stick to the examples listed in this blog! We compiled common questions, requests, and comments from our community, and would love to see even more! If you have tips or inquiries about planning styles that you’d like to learn more about, let us know in the comments.

I’m someone that appreciates prompts and structure in my planning. If you agree, then you should give the Executive and Cornell Notes Interiors a try! Their subheaders provide a place to start so that your planning can branch from there. The beauty of these layouts is that while they offer structure, they are still flexible enough to customize to your own style of planning. Best of both worlds!

These inserts provide the space to truly dig into your gratitude daily. Start with Highlights, which should contain the main idea(s) of your gratitude for that day. From there, note any Inspirations and Milestones. For example, have an inspiration quote to get you through the day? Note it there! Then, your milestones can include goals that you’ve accomplished in your day-to-day life. Finally, make note of any self-care reminders in To Remember, along with Daily Affirmations to bring you into a positive headspace.
The next page includes an area to focus on Thought Reframing. This allows you to not just cultivate positivity, but also let go of any negativity. Note your main Challenges, then fill your page from there. In Areas of Growth, note how you’ve grown either despite or within your challenges. This allows you to consider what To Let Go Of. From there, find Positive Takeaways – this is where the “reframing” comes into play. Despite your challenges, you’ve found areas of growth, negatives that you can free from your thoughts, and something positive to turn your focus towards. To wrap up your reframing ritual, have a focus already in mind to note in Tomorrow’s Focus.
For visual tips, check the demo page found at the end of your insert pack.
“The purpose of this journal is to cultivate mindful reflection of the moments we want to keep, and how to best remember them.”
Have your own personal “conversation” via reflection journaling. Start with a main idea or thought for your reflection, then use your stream-of-consciousness from there! Journal every branching thought, and consider what it means for you and your goals (whether emotional, career, interpersonal, family, or academically related).
Alternatively, share the journal with a friend or family member to preserve a special moment or communicate a disagreement. On one page, write how you feel about the moment/situation. On the next page, have your loved one fill theirs. You will then have a keepsake of a memorable time with that person, and/or have a means to reflect on both sides of an issue.
Helpful questions to consider are located at the front of the journal to aid you in your transformative journey:
What did I learn during this conversation? What did I learn about myself? What did I learn about this person? How do/did I feel? How do/did they feel? What is resonating with me? What should we follow up on? Any other steps?
This unique dice-system will help maintain mindfulness throughout your day! Start by rolling your die for a wellness prompt, whether it be for deep breathing, a quick stretch break, or even a 10-minute walk. Ensure that you have a moment of quiet and calm so that you can engage with the moment. Use the die in conjunction with your key and prompt card whenever you need a self-care moment. Consider writing thoughts that come to mind within your Mindful Reflection Insert.
This insert is perfect for reflecting on any and every significant moment! Choose an event or moment that you would like to reflect on. Summarize the Details of the events - why is it significant? In the Emotional Response space, reflect on how the moment made you feel. Again - what about your emotional response is significant? Once you’ve truly engaged with your reflection process, take time to write or sketch your Thoughts and Key Takeaways.
Example: When reflecting on an event such as visiting a long-time friend, you may realize in Thoughts and Takeaways that it’s important to build connections with those you care about. This unveils an action item: specifically scheduling time with loved ones. Instead of simply acknowledging as much, take the time to block off time within your calendar. This transforms your reflection process into a manifestation process.
For visual tips, check the demo page found at the end of your insert pack.

You can’t do it all perfectly every single day (it’s just not realistic); instead, commit to the minimum.
People with ADHD sometimes struggle with object permanence when it comes to tasks, items, and even other people, especially when these things are not directly in their line of sight.
We thrive on shortcut hacks and items that make our lives easier. This is because when you live with ADHD, you run out of the executive drive that gets things done.
“In the disability world, there’s something called 'spoon theory.'...In the theory, each ['spoon' that you metaphorically have] represents a finite unit of energy...people with chronic illnesses have to ration them just to get through the day.” (Washington Post)
People have different types of ADHD and different ways their brain functions with the disorder. It may take trial and error, but you can curate your planning routine to fit you. Remember, the aim is to make your life easier and more organized.

Expressing gratitude daily is a healthy habit for cultivating self-care and even improves the community around you. It is shown that it may lower stress, improve heart health, raise general happiness, and boost interpersonal relationships (Harvard Health). We recommend starting with inserts specifically tailored for daily gratitude, like the Daily Gratitude Log, or simple note-taking inserts like Task Planner Inserts, which can be used as a line or two-a-day, and Quad Lined Inserts, which provide four dedicated block spaces for writing. An alternative is using Mini Gratitude Notecards to either save for personal archiving or directly give to those you appreciate! Or, keep plain sticky notes such as Note Neutrality Stickies near your bedside, workspace, and relaxation area to write a line of gratitude when the moment arises.
Since gratitude looks different for everyone, there are a few different methods you may want to try! Gratitude can be privately dedicated to a specific person, feeling, place, item, etc. Gratitude can be expressed religiously, in the form of prayer, or purely secularly. It can be relevant to just the current moment, or a distant memory. And, gratitude can be used for personal empowerment or to mentally give thanks for others. Remember that self-care is supposed to benefit you, so if weekly, monthly, or sporadic gratitude expression works better for you than daily, go for it! If you prefer to stick to a daily routine, set a reminder for a specific time everyday, or work it into your morning/evening routines.
Reflection involves introspective consideration and analysis with the intention to grow. To put simply, it helps you create meaning in your life, which is integral to continuous growth and development (Jennifer Porter, Harvard Business Review). We have the tools to help you in this meaningful journey, and tips for mastering the process.
Consider using some note-taking inserts or a journal with the Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Reflection Dashboards – these provide prompts to get you started with your reflections. It is beneficial to start reflecting towards the end of the day, week, month, year, and after you have accomplished a goal or come across an obstacle. This way, the reflection process feels just as relieving as starting your evening routine after a long day. If using a blank sheet to start the process feels daunting, our 30-Day Journal is designed for you to both set expectations and reflect. Alternatively, the Mental Download Inserts layout is great for taking your reflections and digging deeper, whether through visuals or compiling.
Similar to expressing gratitude, using affirmations is shown to improve both mental and physical health! The act of using affirmations, either verbally and mentally, is likened to exercising your brain, just as you may exercise physically to improve health. (Kimberly Hill, MSW, LCSW. Wellspring Prevention).
So, how can you implement this in your planning routine? Well, there are a few different methods to choose from:
Usually when we think of self-care, we think of pampering, journaling, coziness, and relaxation. Did you know that not all self-care is necessarily easy or fun? Consider chores and the not-so-easy parts of growth. Well, those still count as self-care! You are preserving your well-being and health by maintaining your environment, mental health, etc. Relatedly, sometimes a difficult part of planning is doing it intentionally — with the expectation of working towards a goal in the most beneficial and healthy way possible. Start with the simple steps laid out on the Intentional Planning Dashboard. The steps within the dashboard easily break down methods for working towards your goal and conquering the nitty-gritty each day. When you create goals or schedule tasks every day, write them with the full intention to complete them, starting with most urgent to least.
Intentionality is also important when it comes to planning physical goals. The thought of exercising exactly as envisioned can be exciting, but you may need a little motivation when it comes to execution. Using detailed notes, goals, and tracking with the Wellness Bundle turns your wellness goals from ideas to accomplishments and growth.
Of course, we can’t leave journaling out of self-care planning! Journaling provides a space that is purely dedicated to you. Any thoughts, ideas, concerns, etc. are valid, and can be expressed with words, pictures, doodles, decorations, and any other items you want to bring to paper. The Journaling Inserts are the most convenient for incorporating journaling to your planner, but really you can use any insert, sticky note, or notepad available!
Expand on using journaling to activate different parts of your brain. Try spritzing your favorite perfume, or filling the page with your favorite color. Experience an amazing moment that you want to capture forever? Print and add a photo, or use the most relevant words and phrases that encapsulate how you felt in that moment. Each time you refer back to that page, you will be filled with the emotions you felt in that moment! Journaling is engaging with your truest you. It creates an archive of each version of yourself, and every era of your life that you can come back to and reflect on at any time.
The planning community reminds us how important self-care is in their planning journey, and we cannot agree more. We hope these tips help you cultivate your own self-care plan, and encourage those comforting feelings of wellbeing and happiness.

Transferring Tasks
The most well-known use for sticky notes is simply writing tasks. However, sticky notes with convenient shapes, such as HALF STICKY NOTES | GRAPH + MACCHIATO or MOSAIC STICKY NOTES are ideal for transferring tasks while using minimal space. They can be added to items like the KANBAN PLANNER DASHBOARD. Then, move the sticky notes as you start, work on, and complete tasks. Additionally, some of your sticky notes may have action items that need to be transferred to your planner. With the varied shapes provided, you can best fit your notes without taking up too much space. It helps that the shapes provide a sleek, elegant look to elevate your planner spread.
Time Blocking
While using inserts with timetables like the WEEKLY SCHEDULE PLANNER INSERTS, reach for your DOME STICKY NOTES or ARROW STICKY NOTES to block off your time. Since they are sticky notes, you can write your task or appointment on the note, then place it within the time table. This maximizes the functionality of your planner spread!
Printables
Cloth & Paper also offers helpful printables that can be used with our shape stickies! Try using the Circle Sticky Note Printables to add essential designs that will aid you in your planner. Combine with the other methods for maximum functionality!
Organization + Logging
Use shape stickies to create your own organization system and dividers! Use one sticky note as your “key”, and others to section off your planner. Additionally, you can use similar color palettes with the SPOTLIGHT PAGE FLAG SET to create a key whether you’re annotating a book, creating color-coded sections, organizing notes, or archiving.
Use With Unique Planner Items
Some inserts and dashboards are created with shape sticky notes in mind! Examples include the VISION BOARD PLANNER INSERTS, YOUR MIND BELIEVES PLANNER DASHBOARD, ONE-MINUTE HABITS PLANNER DASHBOARD, and INBOX PLANNER INSERTS | REFRESHED DESIGN. These planning items work best with the CIRCLE STICKY NOTE SET and SHAPE STICKY NOTE SET. Any of the circle sticky notes can be placed within the circular spaces within the inserts and dashboards. They are perfect for logging your reads, outlining projects, and visually organizing your tasks from most important (largest circle stickies) to least (smallest stickies).

OUR FAVORITE PLANNING ACCESSORIES AND HOW TO USE
This collection of three pens were personally selected by our CEO as “must-haves”! The CEO Chic Liquid Fineliner provides a 0.4 fine tip with an auto-control ink system – providing no skipping and no leaking. The Lopet Smooth Classic Gel Pen is a 0.5 gel-ink pen with impressively smooth writing feel and inky finish. Finally, the CoInk Double Ended Highlighter offers a 1.0 mm pointed tip or 5 mm rounded tip, for various highlighting opportunities.
Use the fineliner to create your planner layouts, create headers and subheaders, or section your notes. The gel pen is perfect for everyday planning, as it will not smudge or leak through pages. Create task bubbles, highlight important notes/dates, or bring attention to headers with your highlighter.
With labels like “To Do”, “In Progress”, and “Miscellaneous”, the CEO Label Stickers can aid you in your planning organization in a multitude of ways! Use them to label your CEO Folder Set, or items like dividers and page flags that are already within your planner. Alternatively, with stickers such as “Social Media” and “Home”, add the stickers to your daily calendar to quickly block off time.
Includes a trio of folders in frosted material, all with blank tabs waiting to be labeled! Keep these folders to organize your everyday papers, or use it to archive items such as “Finances”, “Investments”, etc. They are slim and minimalistic, ideal for storing your paper items anywhere!
These inserts include 17 sheets for meeting notes. They are outfitted with headers for your “Subject”, “Attendees”, “Agenda”, a square grid for “Notes”, and a blank section for “Follow Up” details. Note your meeting’s date and time at the top right corner. After filling in your subject and the meeting attendees, prepare by noting the meeting’s agenda. What topics absolutely need to be discussed at this meeting? In short, what is the purpose of the meeting subject? Then, grid-space allows for flexible note-taking to fit your style of planning. Finally, don’t forget to add follow-up details, or action-items to end off your meeting. Remember, the point of meeting notes is not to simply take notes, but to make the most of everyone’s valuable time, and take one more step to accomplishing your goals!
