How to Start Ring Planning
Ring planners provide durability, sturdiness, and are a great grab-and-go selection. They are perfect for planning beginners and veterans alike! Let’s take a look at how to start your own ring-bound planner, no matter the time of the year:
Choosing a Planner
First, you will need to determine the material type, material color, ring type, and ring color you’re looking for in a ring-bound planner. Our Clear Vinyl 6-Ring Planner has one color and two ring sizes: A5 30mm and Personal. These will fit A5 inserts and Personal inserts, respectively. Alternatively, our Leather options are available with a variety of colors and materials! Check the Leather Planning Guide to peruse our many options and the insert sizes that will fit each. We offer ring-bound planners in Pocket, A5, and Personal sizes, and ring-punched inserts that fit Pocket, A5, A6, Personal, and Personal Wide.
Organization + Support
Planner Dividers are integral to a planner system! Not only do they provide organization, but they are also important for adding support. Try including a divider at the very back of your planner so that you have increased support while writing. For additional writing support between sections, any of our Dashboards are ideal (they also double as decor!).
Adding Inserts
The inserts you include in your planner are based on personal preference, but there are some types of inserts that are much-needed for a basic planner setup. First, you’ll need either Dated or Undated Inserts, which are available for monthly, weekly, and daily planning. If you like to dig into the nitty-gritty of your day, daily inserts are for you. Otherwise, an everyday planner is likely to reach for the monthly or weekly inserts.
Next, you will need a basic note-taking option. We highly recommend the Lined Notes Inserts, however options with more creative freedom, such as the Dot Grid or Graph Note Inserts, are fabulous as well. These inserts will allow you to easily take notes, sketch, make lists, and other everyday tasks.
Relaxing the Leather
When you first receive your leather planner, it’s likely that it will not lay completely flat. This is normal. It will soften and relax over time—being genuine leather, the spine will just need to be worked a bit. Utilizing Pockets + Holders
While a typical disc-bound planner does not include pockets, the leather ring-bound planners have built-in pockets! They become important to your daily planning once you learn how to use them. The pockets are a perfect size for storing Journaling Cards, Functional Sticky Notes, and Mini Shape Stickers. When you need to store larger items, our Pocket Folders are a lifesaver.
